According to new Bureau of Labor Statistics data, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is down .8 percent in July from a year ago. In July 2021, the state’s unemployment was 3.8 percent and last month unemployment was 3.0 percent. Meaning that currently the state’s unemployment rate is significantly under the national average of 3.5 percent.

Since June 2021, the Milwaukee-West Allis-Waukesha area has added 14,400 new nonfarm jobs. The new jobs, in addition to the state’s low unemployment numbers, are a positive sign for the future of the Milwaukee area economy.
