The average rent nationwide for a one-bedroom home is $1,105 per month and $1,342 for a two-bedroom home. Here in Wisconsin, the average rent for a one-bedroom home is $777 per month and $965 for a two-bedroom home.

While this is significantly less than the country average of rent, it still means that an individual earning minimum wage in Wisconsin must work 82 hours each week to make rent.

In the Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis metropolitan area, the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $999 per month which is slightly more than the state average but still less than the national average.
