Packers Second Straight Loss Seriously Hurts Playoff Hopes

The Packers hopes for a playoff berth are on life support after the team fell 34-20 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was their second straight loss and drops them back to 6-8 on the year, meaning the best they can finish is 9-7. With the final two playoff spots being held by 7-7 teams, the Packers will not only need to win, but will need help from conference opponents to make the playoffs.

All in all, the Packers offense played fairly well on Sunday, but they were unable to keep up with the rapid pace of the Buccaneers offense. Quarterback Jordan Love threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns, and at multiple points throughout the game, the Packers were within one score.

But the defense struggled with the Buccaneers, giving up 452 yards of total offense. That included a huge day from Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, who threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns.

The Packers do get some reprieve, with two of their next three games coming against the 2-12 Carolina Panthers and 5-9 Chicago Bears. But their biggest game is in two weeks on New Year’s Eve, when they’ll head to Minnesota for a Sunday Night Football game that has major playoff implications.
